In memory of numerous late Turkish women engineers, scientists, architects and authors, we have started a Scholarship Campaign.

Your donations will help needy female students of the Istanbul Technical University with their expenses for studying science and technology.

Because of severe financial circumstances, girl students urgently need our increasing help more than ever before. Every amount counts.

Scholarships will be determined through the Scholarship Committees of the central ITÜ MD in Istanbul and the ITÜ MD in USA. Regular progress reports will be published. Charitable non-profit donations are tax-deductible.

We Protest the Mass Murder at the Soma Mine in Turkey
Aid Campaign for the 432 children of the Soma Mine victims

RESPECTED COMMUNITY MEMBERS, DEAR FRIENDS We, Turkish-American and Turkish-Canadian engineers and architects, graduates of Istanbul Technical University, are deeply saddened by the disaster which took the lives of 301 miners during the explosion and fire at Soma Mine in Turkey. 432 children are now left orphans with this tragic accident. Human Life and Safety has to be paramount, and there are several examples in the world with proper safety regulations and strict inspections, thus these fatalities can be prevented. Therefore, we hope to see detailed plans to prevent future mine accidents, revised labor laws; new health and safety rules and codes immediately along with proper inspections, not only at Soma Mine but also all other mines in Turkey. We demand that all people responsible for the Soma Mine accident be brought to justice swiftly without hiding or destroying any evidence. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the mine laborers who lost their lives in this tragic accident and best wishes for the safe exit of the remaining miners. SAYGIDEGER TOPLUM ÜYELERIMIZ, DEGERLI DOSTLARIMIZ Bizler, İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi'nden mezun Türk-Amerikan ve Türk-Kanadali mühendis ve mimarlar olarak, Soma'da yașanan ve 301 kișinin hayatini kaybetmesine sebep olan maden faciasindan dolayi son derece üzgünüz. Bu elim kaza sonucunda 432 çocugumuz yetim kalmistir. Hic birșey insan yașami ve iș güvenliginden daha önemli degildir. İș güvenligi kurallarinin dogru uygulanmasi ve siki denetimlerle, bu tur ölümcül iș kazalarinin önüne geçilebildigi dünyada pek çok uygulamali örneklerle mevcuttur. Bu tür acilarin ileride tekrar yașanmamasi için, iș güvenligi eksikliklerinin acilen tamamlanması, çalisma kanunlarinda yeni düzenlemelere gidilmesi, kalite yönetim sistemlerinin etkin sekilde hayata geçirilmesi gerekmektedir. En buyuk arzumuz, bu elim kazadaki tüm sorumlulular hakkinda, gerekli yasal islemlerin biran önce yapilmasi ve geride kalan ailelerin yaralarinin sarilmasidir. Bu faciada hayatını kaybeden maden emekçilerimize Allah'tan rahmet, kederli ailelerine sabır ve tüm milletimize bassagligi dileriz.
